If I could Time Travel….
It’d so be 1730.
the life of me, by me
Just went for my lunch.. Went to Greggs. On the way back I was walking through the Preston Outdoor Market and some little chavvy bastard rode his bike into me. “HA” was his only response before riding off again.
Not being one to provoke and/or aggravate such situations I quickly nipped through one of the stalls and stepped out just in time to knock the little cunt off his bike. “HA”.
I executed the maneuver so smoothly and with so much class that I didn’t even care that he called me a Cock Munch. I felt like Jason Bourne and that was good enough for me
In other news, I just checked the Manchester BBC News Page. A Rape, a mugging, an assault, more rape, a shooting, a hit and run, another rape and yet another assault. Busy night crims!
I just read this and I simply must share it with you!
I an act of radical totalitarianism, China has banned Buddhist monks in Tibet from reincarnating without explicit government permission. A statement issued by the State Administration for Religious Affairs says the new law, which goes into effect next month and strictly stipulates the procedures by which one is to reincarnate, is “an important move to institutionalize management of reincarnation.”
The reason is obvious, to cut off the influence of the Dalai Lama.. By barring any Buddhist monk living outside China from seeking reincarnation, the law effectively gives Chinese authorities the power to choose the next Dalai Lama, whose soul, by tradition, is reborn as a new human to continue the work of relieving suffering.
Madness.
So, this weekend I am visiting Cas. If you’ve been a reader long enough you’ll know that Cas is one of my old mate’s from my time served at Liverpool University (ljmu) and he lives in Lincolnshire.
A good few weeks ago I was sat at work, and I got a phonecall, from a number I didn’t recognise. I answered. “Is that Boycie?”.
It’d been a while since I’d been called that I thought, but “Erm.. Yeah it is..” I replied curiously. “Alright man. It’s Cas..” he said. He then went on to explain his predicament which had left him with a ¬£1000 voucher for PC World, and 5 IBM Tablet PCs.. Not the worst of Predicaments. So I agreed to come help him spend money and setup tablet pcs, and a few weeks later.. Here I am. I guess I’ll start from, well, the start…
I finished work on the Friday (which I guess would be day zero!) at the usual time, and got the train home, getting back for around 1900. Cas was working until 0000, and was going to let me know his plan then. At 0300 I feel asleep after speaking to Cas and he reported he was coming to get me that night.
At 0500 I was awoken from my slumber by Cas informing me had arrived at my house. By 0530 we were back on the road, en route to Lincolnshire. Our final destination; Sibsey, Northlands.
After what was probably a 3h-3h30m drive, we had eaten a McDonald’s breakfast and arrived back at Cas’ house.
At 1030 we decided the best plan of action would be to get a 2h nap, then set off for PC World at 1200. We both set two alarms, and hit our respective sacks, ready for a long day ahead.
At 1130 Louise woke me up, as she had woken up and wanted to ring me. I didn’t feel that tired, but still though the idea of taking the full advantage of the remaining half an hour I had in bed until my alarms starting going off seemed far too good to miss.
I remember hearing the alarms go off, for the most part. Regardless of this, I woke up at 1700 and we managed to rush to PC World which closed at 1800 and make the required purchases. We left with a TomTom One XL, an Acer Media Center PC and a Packard Bell baseunit (that will be acting as a fileserver). By 2100 we were back at Cas’ house, terminal pcs and new hardware in hand. It’s now 0215 and I’m still going - but for how much longer I don’t know. Think I’ll probably call it a day soon and get up early tomorrow so we can get USB Wireless Jobbys for the Terminals, and some XP Tablet-age for them too. After that it should be plain sailing!
Stay tuned for day two…. Oh yeah, and one thing I didn’t mention is that I’m writing this blog from by brand new shiny white Macbook! I am definately a self-confessed fanboy now! OS X FTW! I shall comment more when I’m back home.
So much for getting up early. 1130. Damn. So I rushed out of bed, and we continued to rush onto PC World to get more bits and bobs. We just about managed to get a terminal running xp and we had to set off for home. Long drive ahead.. Made longer by the fact that about half an hour in I realised I had forgotten my MacBook charger.. Disaster! We got back to Manchester at about 1900, and Cas had to shoot straight off as he was driving to London tonight too. Good weekend, and I’m sure we’ll be doing it again.
