It’s been a while, mostly because I’ve not done anything worth reporting back to my loyal readers! Been doing quite a bit of work on MontyFootball.com recently. Getting comments and donations working, should all be good now! There’s a high chance you’ve heard of the site already (It has been on the BBC news!), but if you haven’t go check it out now! It’s bloody awesome!

In other news, I’ve been working on my CV and am gonna send it out a few more times out - and hope for the best!

"gathering"

Had a bit of a hectic weekend.. By normal standards at any rate! Went out for a few drinks on friday night, then had a few cans.. Nothing special. On saturday, however, I went to possibly the craziest party I’ve ever been to. The house was fucking huge! 6 Floors plus a basement, which had about 4 big rooms in it, 2 of which hosted nightclub-esque raves featuring a dj box, bar (cans for sale) and a set list. There were like 200 people in the 12 bedroomed house and the party lasted bloody ages - much longer than I could. Probably due to the mass drugs consumption I wasn’t part of. I left at about 9am or so, around the time the 15′x15′ bouncy castle arrived on 24h lease!

After sleeping for about 2h30m I woke up for sunday. Went and saw Chef off, help me move his stuff out his flat etc then went round Jaz’s. Nothing that special. Woke up after a wicked sleep today to a nice surprise; Sam was on her way to see me (as opposed to being at college(!)). Lovely surprise. Spent the day with her til about 6 then Chef came up for the night and Jaz came round… That’s about it. meh

Completly OT but if the sidebar/lastfm info is still showing php parse errors when you read this - it’s not my fault - it’s lastfm’s!

overcast

Filed under: Life, Rant — Will Boyce on May 20th, 2006 @ 21:00

You know when you have one of those days, and everything is just shit? Well today is one of those. The weather is overcast and I feel overcast! However, I tried my best to be productive! Woke up, and didn’t do much… Well, did the normal. Sat at my desk…

What is this? If there is one rule to follow, it’s if you run a “Keygen.exe” and nothing happens, or you get an ie popup then activate the emergency forcefields and batton down the hatches!!!! Amist trying to install a perfecly legal application that I had innocently lost my legal key for, I had managed to infect myself with some kind of uncharted virus! That’s right! It replicated itself to “%SYSTEMROOT%\Program Files\winupdates\” and made a load of registry entries, which were designed to stop me stopping it. It blocked my access to taskmgr.exe, cmd.exe, mmc.exe and regedit.exe. Fear not though! I quickly rebooted into safe mode and proceeded to clean up my registry so the virus wouldn’t load on boot. After this I installed some free av and ran it on my system… No Viruses found? I scanned the file. Not a virus. Well, that’s a lie! I opened the keygen.exe in notepad and cleaned up after it manually. I have no idea what the virus code was intended to do, but it’s gone now! If I find the author I will be castrating him (or alternatively, contacting abuse.net and filing a claim under the computer misuse act :P).

After this I spent about 3 hours looking through Jobs.. Found about 15-20 of relative interest, CV will be sent with haste. Ermm, after that I had some tea (beans, and scrambled eggs on toast :D) and came back home to email Sam and be bored/miss her *blush*.

Heinz Poundz!

Filed under: Life, Food — Will Boyce on May 17th, 2006 @ 23:01

On my way out today, and decided to check my post.. A rare occasion, but it happens now and then.. Low and behold, I have mail! I unlock the postbox and grab the post; “2 letters for me! Result” I let out! But the best was yet to come…. I flicked through the letters to see the second on bore a stamp… But not just any stamp, the stamp of the snack-giants themselves… Heinz! I opened it with haste….

Unfortunately, It’s not a hamper, but a √Ǭ£2 voucher for Heinz products will do me nicely, especially since I only paid like 50p for the tin of beans! Kinda wish the paper had been bean-printed, as opposed to plain white paper.. Bit boring to be honest.. I also gave Heinz a link to my previous article and invited them to comment, but nothing. :(

Anyways, thanks very much Heinz! You’ve fully redeemed yourself, and I look forward to enjoying √Ǭ£2 worth of Heinz goodness!

would you like coffee with that?

If you read my post entitled the subway riddler you’ll know where I’m coming from with this one… I went to Starbucks the other day, and ordered my usual:

  • Grand√ɬ© White Chocolate Mocha..
  • ..with an extra shot of espresso..
  • ..and whipped cream.

To which the woman replied “You don’t need to ask for the cream, you get that anyway”.. As it so happens, later this day I went back to Starbucks, and indeed, ordered the same drink.. Only this time, I decided to omit my usual request for Whipped Cream.

Yes, that’s right, it happened. The guy said “would you like whipped cream on that?”. I would’ve been surprised had I not been completely expecting it. I think maybe part of the training process at these places is to never let the customer place an order without having to come out on top, with some little comment. you bastards
